2007 Byte Schedule and Other Fun Events

Here are the events the fleet has planned for 2007. Races counting towards the season championship are highlighted with yellow. The other listings are non-official races and fun sailing events. Note: We've upped the number of official regattas (counters) this year -- and we can add unofficial events as the year progresses.  Most yacht clubs are happy to have the Bytes join in if we've got at least 5 committed boats,  so if you want to have the fleet participate in a regatta or or an activity not on the list-- or if you just want some other boats to sail with -- just drum up some business.

Season Championship Rules

Feb 4 (Sun)

RYC Midwinters Regatta -- The third RYC Midwinters is the kick-off regatta for the 2007 season championship.

March 4 (Sun)

RYC Midwinters Regatta

March 18 (Sun)

RYC Channel Cruise -- Just a fun, informal sail in the RYC channel (or perhaps beyond, if the weather is inviting) -- a chance to practice and meet the fleet. A good event for newer Byte sailors, but fun for everyone. 11AM

March 31-April 1 (Sat-Sun)

RYC Big Dinghy Regatta

April 21 (Sat)

RYC Sail a Byte Day Invitational, 10AM -- Our fleet throws this event, which gives interested individuals a chance to try out a boat. If you know a prospective Byte sailor, please send their name to Gail Yando.  Fleet members are encouraged to attend and to lend their boat for this event.
April 28 (Sat) Half Moon Bay YC -- CANCELLED.
May 12-13 (Sat-Sun) RYC Dinghy Invitation Regatta -- This regatta is for invited centerboard/daggerboard fleets only, including Bytes, Lasers, Snipes.
June 2-3 (Sat-Sun) Gold Country Regatta -- This regatta has long been a fleet favorite. It's not an official season counter this year because, unfortunately, it conflicts with the 2007 Delta Ditch Run and many of our local sailors prefer to do this big boat event. However, some Bytes may be going to this Gold Country. There's an open class and GCYC will probably give Bytes a separate start if there are enough Bytes and someone contacts race officials in advance to arrange this.

June 28-30,July 1 (Thurs - Sun)

Clear Lake Clinic -- The Byte fleet returns to Clear Lake for a 4-day Byte clinic for all sailing abilities. Oh, the fun of sailing in warm, flat water and good breezes!!  Note: Sailors under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Gail has reserved several cabins with kitchens from Wednesday night through Sunday at the Fun Time RV Park. Anticipated cost is $50 a night.for housing (including non-sailors) . We will also share cooking and related food costs. We probably can accommodate those who cannot come for the full four days. More information to follow.

July  14-15 (Sat-Sun)

Delta Fun -- We're trying to arrange something fun and unofficial in the Delta -- warm water sailing.

July 28  (Sat)

Encinal YC Small Boat Series -
August 18-22

Aug. 25 (Sat)

Encinal YC Small Boat Series -- Enjoy the Saturday EYC regatta on the estuary, sail over to Jack London Acquatic Center -- Dan says we can store our boats there overnight -- and return for the JLAC clinic on Sunday.
August 26 (Sun) Byte Clinic at Jack London Aquatic Center (JLAC) -- Dan Ouellet is instructor. Usually lots of practice starts. Great practice. And the ideal situation is to come to the EYC regatta, leave your boat at JLAC for the night, and then do this clinic (see previous event).

Sept. 22-23 (Sat - Sun)

RYC Totally Dinghy *

Oct.14  (Sun)

RYC Channel Cruise -- Just a fun, informal sail in the RYC channel (or perhaps beyond, if the weather is inviting) -- a chance to practice and meet the fleet. A good event for newer Byte sailors, but fun for everyone. 11AM

Nov. 17-18 (Sat, Sun)

ABYC Long Beach -- Turkey Trot Regatta
