2006 Schedule

Below are the events the fleet has planned for 2006. Races counting towards the season championship are highlighted with yellow. The other listings are non-official races and fun sailing events.

Note: We can add any events as the year progresses.  Most yacht clubs are happy to have the Bytes join in if we've got at least 5 committed boats,  so if you want to have the fleet participate in a regatta or or an activity not on the list-- or if you just want some other boats to sail with -- just drum up some business.

March 5 (Sun)

RYC Midwinters Regatta -- By special request, this is the first year that the last RYC Midwinters is the kick-off regatta for the s2006 season championship.

March 19 (Sun)

RYC Channel Cruise -- Just a fun, informal sail in the RYC channel (or perhaps beyond, if the weather is inviting) -- a chance to practice and meet the fleet. A good event for newer Byte sailors, but fun for everyone. 11AM

April 1 - 2 (Sat-Sun)

RYC Big Dinghy --

April 30 (Sun)

RYC Sail a Byte Day – Invitational, 10AM -- Our fleet throws this event, which gives interested individuals a chance to try out a boat. If you know someone who is a good prospective Byte sailor, please send their name to Gail Yando.  Fleet members are encouraged to attend and to lend their boat for this event. This is, coincidentally, Opening Day on the Bay, and a fun time to be out on the water -- and there's a party at the club in the afternoon.

June 3 - 4 (Sat - Sun)

Gold Country Regatta -- on Scotts Flat Lake, near Grass Valley, CA. Lake sailing (shifty) in a beautiful location. There's a BBQ Saturday night and breakfast Sunday.  It's usually beautiful with moderate winds, but we've seen quite a variety of situations. You can make campground reservations or stay at a motel within easy driving distance.

June 29,30,1,2 (Thurs - Sun)

Clear Lake Clinic -- The Byte fleet returns to Clear Lake for a 4-day Byte clinic for all sailing abilities. Oh, the fun of sailing in warm, flat water and good breezes!!  Note: Sailors under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. We hope to have two instructors, one for the new rig, the other for the old rig. Gail has reserved  3 cabins with kitchens from Wednesday night through Sunday at the Fun Time RV Park. Anticipated cost is $125 for the 4 days for housing (including non-sailors) . We will also share cooking (and related food costs). We probably can accommodate those who cannot come for the full four days. More information to follow.

July  16 (Sun)

RYC Channel Cruise --

July 29 (Sat)

Byte Clinic at Jack London Aquatic Center (JLAC) -- Dan Ouellet is instructor. Usually lots of practice starts. Great practice.
